What to Expect
Your appointment time will be about two hours. You’ll do some paperwork, then we will apply your numbing cream. This will stay on your skin for about 20 mins, during which we will answer any questions you might have. After this, the numbing cream is removed, your skin is cleansed and disinfected then we microneedle.
The actual microneedling takes anywhere from 20-45 minutes, depending on your skin’s response. The microneedling is very tolerable, usually just the pressure and vibrations from the device. All face sessions also include the neck. After the microneedling we apply hydrating serums and recovery products. Then you will have a 30-minute session of red-light LED therapy to further decrease redness and benefit your skin.
You can expect to leave your appointment looking and feeling like you have a minor sunburn, and you’ll feel a little tight and warm for about 24 hours. You will be unable to put on sunscreen or makeup for two hours after your microneedling, so you will need to plan accordingly when scheduling your appointment.
You will be sent home with a kit of aftercare products to use for 48-72 hours after your appointment. If you are doing a series of treatments, this kit will get you through three treatments.
Microneedling & PRP

Platelet Rich Plasma is a component of your own blood. You have a blood draw in-office that is then spun down in a centrifuge to have the PRP extracted. PRP includes hundreds of cytokines, a type of growth factor. Growth factors can be very helpful in skin health, they can help stimulate collagen production and encourage new skin cell growth, these are the good cytokines, the anti-inflammatory kind. However, there are also cytokines that are pro-inflammatory.
Our opinion, after much research, is that PRP incites a significant pro-inflammatory response when used in conjunction with microneedling, and that this may be troublesome, especially in people prone to hyperpigmentation or severe scarring. On an occasional basis, most people should tolerate PRP without problem or difficulty. However, the amount of cytokines and growth factors in our bodies declines with age, which is why healing times are longer the older we grow. This means that most people seeking these PRP treatments will not have the same concentration of anti-inflammatory cytokines and growth factors in their plasma that are contained in our AnteAge Microneedling Solutions, and why we don’t offer PRP and instead choose to use the AnteAge Microneedling Solutions.

What are Growth Factors and Exosomes?
Growth factors are naturally occurring proteins that allow cells to communicate with one another. They bind to specific receptors on cells and deliver instructions that are specific to the type of growth factor they are, i.e. “produce collagen” or “support skin healing.” They support specific actions. When applied after microneedling they are excellent for accelerating healing and recovery time, increasing collagen and elastin production for firmer skin with more elasticity, reducing redness and inflammation, and enhancing overall tone and texture.
Exosomes are the next generation of skin rejuvenation. While growth factors support specific actions, exosomes are more like carriers of multiple actions. Exosomes are released by cells (often stem cells) and contain a set of instructions with multiple actions. Exosomes contain growth factors, peptides, and lipids, among other things. If you picture a stem cell as a moving truck, the exosome is the carefully packed cargo inside. It contains the collection of actions that will communicate directly with your skin cells to optimize repair and renewal. When paired with microneedling, exosomes exponentially enhance regeneration by reducing downtime and accelerating healing, boosting collagen, improving scarring and other texture abnormalities, and improving overall smoothness and radiance.
